Why did you join Movement Exchange?

I have great interest in incorporating my passions for dance and social issues. I wanted to be involved in a greater movement involving social change by the use of service through performative arts.

How can dance change the world?

According to research, performing arts has largely contributed to reducing crime rate, substance abuse, drop-out rates, and behavioral problems in at-risk youth. Dance can be utilized as a tool to develop youth positively by socially impacting countries with large wealth disparities.

What is your favorite thing about Movement Exchange?

The best part of Movement Exchange is experiencing the intertwine between different dance groups and companies to support a cause greater than ourselves.

What makes the IU chapter of Movement Exchange unique?

The Movement Exchange chapter at University of Illinois focuses on the development our domestic, diverse dance communities to collaboratively create dance performative events and workshops to fundraise for international outreach.
