Why did you join Movement Exchange?

I (Sarah) went on an open-call exchange and was immediately in love with the mission of MoveEx. I had never been a part of something that so perfectly fit my desires for movement, community service, and travel.

How can dance change the world?

Dance can bring people together without the barrier of language, religion, or age. It can really help bring a sense of community to those who are moving in unison.

What is your favorite thing about Movement Exchange?

The best part for me is seeing the bond that grows between the members and the kids we serve. There’s a kind of magic that grows when they realize that we are there to dance WITH them and not there to discipline or demand things of them.

What makes the IU chapter of Movement Exchange unique?

Move-Ex at Purdue is unique because we work with a variety of at-risk youth in the area and are passionate about using dance, play, and teamwork to develop relationships with the kids we serve.
