Why did you join Movement Exchange?

I started my chapter of Move-Ex after I went on an open call trip after my sophomore year. I was so moved by the experience that I felt other students at Mason would be able to contribute to the work Move-Ex does and would benefit from the experience as I had.

How can dance change the world?

Dance serves as a tool for expression and communication. It is more than learning technique. It provides people with a new outlook on experience and how people interact with others. I believe dance has the ability to help heal and solve the issues people face on a daily basis. Having this outlet can free people from confines of societal norms and expectations.

What is your favorite thing about Movement Exchange?

Simply, the incredible people.

What makes the GMU chapter of Movement Exchange unique?

Mason Move-Ex is a very dedicated and very thoughtful group of dancers. We have so much passion to not only go to Panama and work with people there, but we have a strong focus on the local work we do too.
